Stella-Luna (SLO) is a private astronomical observatory in Medina, Ohio, USA by James Guilford: Photographer, tech guy, and former network administrator. He also operated Stephens Memorial Observatory at Hiram College for 16 years, presenting public astronomy outreach that included occasional speaking engagements. Stephens Observatory’s ca. 1901 telescope was sold and removed in 2022 ending that outreach opportunity.
The observatory houses a permanent telescope pier that can be used with any of several instruments. Guilford hopes to continue astronomy outreach activities on a very limited basis. We are posting here, on Instagram & Threads, Bluesky, and at Mastodon, on astronomy, and other science topics.
Calm lamps within the distant southern sky,
And planet-dust upon the edge of space,
Look down upon the fretful world, and I
Look up to outer vastness unafraid
And see the stars which sang when earth was made.
From “Stars”, by Marjorie Lowry Christie Pickthall, ca. 1925
