Behold, the Five Percent Moon! Not without some difficulty, we were able to capture this morning’s waning Crescent Moon (27.45 days old) during daylight — the only time of day we can view this Lunar phase from our observatory. Moon was invisible to the unaided eye and, through the eyepiece, appeared as a ghostly fingernail trimming on a bright, powder blue sky background. Very low contrast. Video capture software had difficulty with this one giving us limited frames to stack, yet here it is!
